A Heart To Praise Jesus

A Heart to Praise Jesus… There are those days when my whole heart is drawn in worship to praise the Lord! I feel it the moment I wake up or at different times throughout the day. There isn’t anything or anyone in this world that deserves praise as He does! He gave up so much for me, which draws me to worship Him!

Praise His Name

Not only do I feel the need to worship Him, but I have this need to praise His name, Jesus. The name Jesus is a Greco-Roman derivation of the Hebrew name Yeshua, meaning “to deliver; to rescue.” The whole idea of God being my deliverer is awe-inspiring. The fact that He rescues me from time to time is encouraging!

Psalm 135:1-3 says, Praise the name of the Lord; praise him, you servants of the Lord, you who minister in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. Praise the Lord, for the Lord, is good; sing praise to his name, for that is pleasant. 

Worship Him With Song

Aside from reading my bible, I often love to listen to worship music to praise the Lord. There are so many great songs to listen to when I need to be drawn closer to Him. I particularly like Elevation Worship, Hillsong United, Hillsong Worship, and Bethel Music. Today I am listening to “Worthy” on “Hallelujah Here Below” by Elevation Worship.

As I worship, there is nothing to distract me but the blinding presence of God. I am struck by how Worthy He really is; I can’t stop thinking about His character. He is kind, caring, and full of grace but powerful and majestic at the same time. He is holy, righteous, and gentle as well as completely perfect, lacking any sin. Those are only a few characteristics that encompass the God of the Universe that created it.  Did I mention that God is Worthy?

Praise the Lord with His Word

Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise him in His mighty heaven! Praise Him for his mighty works; praise His unequaled greatness! Praise Him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise Him with the lyre and harp! Psalms 150:1-3

As I continue to worship, I think that aside from all the other things that God is, He is my Father. That fact takes me back to how Worthy He is to me. Even though I am unworthy without Him, I am Worthy because of Him.

Why would a holy, perfect, and righteous God care that much for me? The answer is found in His name, Jesus. He can’t help but be who He is! Not any more than I can keep from worshipping Him because of who He is. For all of that, I am in awe of Him and for so much more!  

A Heart for Praise

Please be encouraged to spend time with God daily. Reading His word and spending time praising Him for being your deliverer, your rescuer, and hopefully your Savior. Learning to have a Heart to Praise Jesus!
