Empty Tombs lead to faith. So often, we live with fully stocked tombs of unhealthy and unholy things. Our lives can be full of them. However, with Jesus’ intervention, that can change.

How Empty Tombs Lead to Faith, Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance. John 20:1

This is the story of how Jesus changed the life of one Mary, Magdalene. He can do the same for us.

The absence of women among the 12 disciples has bothered people throughout the ages. However, there were many women among Jesus’ followers. Jesus did not treat women as others in society did at the time. Instead, he saw their worth and treated them with respect.

Lessons from Mary’s Life

Mary Magdalene was one of the women among His early followers. Many feel she deserved to be one of His disciples for all she did as one among the group, including meeting their financial needs. She contributed to His ministry and traveled with the disciples and other followers. Mary was present at Jesus’ crucifixion with His mother, other women, and John. More importantly, she was the first to see Jesus outside the empty tomb after His resurrection.

Mary is a touching example of gratitude for Jesus’ turning her life right-side-up. When He freed her of seven demons, her life was changed from the inside out. Every time we view her life in the Bible, she is thankful. Every time we view her life in the pages of scripture, she expresses gratitude for the freedom Jesus had given her. When almost all the disciples abandoned Jesus, Mary stood in the light of His cross as several other women did.

Achievements and blessings

Mary was authentic and genuine, with an uncomplicated faith. With a desire to believe and live a life of obedience. Jesus blessed her by revealing Himself to her before anyone else. Sharing the good news showed the value of women in ministry. She impacted the world in which she lived and for generations to come by contributing to Jesus’ Ministry.

How Empty Tombs Lead to Faith

Mary easily believed like those around her because Jesus was in their midst. But she struggled to believe in Christ’s resurrection. She desired to honor Jesus like many of His followers after His death but was jubilant when she met Him at the tomb. Her story is a helpful reminder when we find it hard to believe. Mary gave her time, talents, and treasures due to the changes in her life. Because of it, she no longer fought the demons she once had and worked as a Kingdom Builder.

We find assurance of faith by trusting that Jesus can empty the tombs we occupy in this life. Before Christ’s death and resurrection, people were destined to decay in their tombs without any hope of rising again. The Jews had tried to move forward for centuries but continued to repeat old sinful patterns without His sacrifice. Because of what He did, we have hope, too. We can accomplish what God puts before us with His Word and Prayer.

I will make you a wall to this people, a fortified wall of bronze; they will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you to rescue and save you,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 15:20

Dear Jesus, please make me a wall, a fortified wall of bronze, so that nothing can overcome me. Please be with me, rescue me, and save me from anything that tries to take me over. Remove the unhealthy things in me that keep me from being free. Remind me of how You changed Mary’s life and so many others when I doubt I can change for the better. Help me believe You are real. In Your name, Jesus.
