Prayer is a Key

How High Would You Climb To Get To God?

by Teresa Dietrich

Who is the Almighty that we should serve Him? What would we gain by praying to Him?’ Job 21:15 (NIV)

How high would you climb to get to God if prayer were a mountain? Have you ever considered how hard you would work to find God in your most significant time of need—in your hardships, life struggles, and more?

What if you knew that Jesus How High Would You Climb To Get To God was sitting next to you and waiting for you to talk everything out with Him, to include Him in the conversation already playing out in your mind?

Jesus Himself would have done this before ministering to the people when He was on this earth. We seem to forget or reject the idea that Jesus sought God the Father for help.

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed. Mark 1:35

Sometimes, He goes to great lengths to be alone with His Father. This reminds us that we, too, need this for direction, guidance, and rest, as He did. We must do this to re-fill when sad, overwhelmed, and empty.

Prayer is a perfect way to do this. It allows us to climb high enough on God’s holy mountain to reach a quiet place where we can block out the noises of the day and night and be alone with Him in our thoughts and prayers.

God called Moses to this very thing so there would be no distractions from the people or life itself. It’s beautiful that we, too, can do this. How great it is that we can ascend the holy mountain of God because Jesus paved the way for us. He leads us every day through His word and prayer.

Lord, I can’t thank You enough for the promise that I can ascend Your holy mountain in prayer and by reading scripture anytime day or night. When I have a need I can talk it out with You, who loves me.. Even though people may fail me and others may desert me, You never will. I’m thankful for You, Lord! I know that I can always count on You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
