World Kindness Day is observed internationally on the 13th of November. It is also a day that people have begun to honor Fred Rogers, the world’s friendliest neighbor. Fred was affectionately known and loved by the world around as “Mister Rogers” which was a character he played on the TV show called Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. You can be someone’s Mister Rogers today. Here are some ideas on how to be neighborly in your community. Use #SpreadKindness to show us how you’re living out Fred’s legacy.
Fred Rogers was affectionately known and loved by the world around as “Mister Rogers” which was a character he played on the TV show called Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
“In appreciating our neighbor, we’re participating in something truly sacred.” – Mister Rogers
Fred Roger’s faith was real, he was one of the most influential Christians in the 20th century. He shared Gospel principles with millions of children and adults year after year. He patterned his life after Jesus who often used stories to teach instead of sermons.
In Fred’s personal life, his love for Jesus was demonstrated through his ability to see the child living inside everyone. In “A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD” Fred makes his friend Lloyd feel accepted and cared for as he intently listens each time they speak. Fred is so caring that he sees the hurt dwelling just below the surface of his emotions and dares to respond with love and concern. Fred accepts Lloyd as a child of God.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
This movie reminds us we all need to be aware of the power of love and Fred’s memorable saying, “Won’t you be my neighbor?” It reminds us of what Mark 12:31 says, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Brenda
Hi it’s Brenda from RubyHemMinistries.com I totally agree with you in that kindness goes such a long way and really doesn’t take much to give. In the environment we live in today, we can never give/receive enough kindness. Thanks for the great reminder.

I am a teacher and we use this day to teach students how to be kind to one another. It’s so nice to see how much they get into it and the sweet things they do and say!

Bravo to you and the other teachers that use this to teach your students!
