Meet Me Here

Imagine that God wants to meet with you daily as much as he wants to meet with me. Maybe, just maybe we both might need to actually pencil God in for an appointment in our calendar. If we want to be honest, we might need to admit that if we don’t make time to meet with God, it’s just not going to happen. Why does it really matter? What’s the big deal if we don’t meet with God on a regular basis? Doesn’t He know how busy we are?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

I guess we should probably treat our relationship with him like the ones we have with other people. It might possibly be just as important as going on a coffee date with a friend, or more so.  Hopefully, you are doing a better job at it than I am.

For the last few months or so it has seemed to me that God has been waking me up early. Not really sure why since I love to stay up late and sleep in. Since it’s not in my nature to rise early I am sensing that might be the reason. I also find it odd that I am waking in the middle of the night as well. There must be something God wants me to fit into my schedule but I can’t imagine what it must be.

Most days my schedule is very full and it’s difficult to meet with God. My calendar is full of appointments and various other important things that must be done each day. The funny thing is, there is one thing missing, an appointment with God. It isn’t as though I don’t want to meet with him! I am just busy doing his work! You know, building his Kingdom!

King David has to be one of my favorite people in the bible and I think it’s because it has been said of him that he was a man after God’s own heart. When you read the psalms that truth is very evident. He is constantly pouring his heart out to God, communicating with him on a very regular basis. What they had was an example of a model relationship.

In reality, God longs for us to meet with him every day as David did. He isn’t going to force us to do anything we don’t want to and wants us to want to meet with him. We have to make time for God each day as David did.

“Imagine that God wants to meet with you daily as much as he wants to meet with me.”

I have come to realize that God is waking me up each morning and night because I believe he wants to meet with me. It just seems like the most logical reason why. If I am not able to make it work, God clearly wants me to see that he does.

Today’s Assurance: “You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My heart may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” Psalm 73:24-26

Prayer: Father, I thank you for wanting to meet with me every day! Jesus, I accept your invitation to do so. Please clear my schedule and show me how to make time to meet with you. Thank you for your word and the encouragement that I find in it. I ask you, Lord, to help me with time management when I struggle. Thank you for loving me enough to wake me and prompt me to pray and read my bible. Please change my heart and make it like yours. How I praise you for guiding me with your counsel and leading me to your glorious destiny. In your magnificent name, Jesus!

Declaration: God can guide us and lead us to a glorious destiny; we just need to be available to meet with him to do it!

Great post! It’s really important to find time for God. I read a quote once that said to schedule your days around God, instead of fitting God in your schedule. Thanks for the reminder to keep Him first!
