Prayer is a Key… Often in life, we are knocking at a door and waiting for God to open it. The door signifies a new change in life, maybe a move to a job or to a new address. It can also be something like fulfilling a desire of your heart, such as looking for a mate, having a baby, or where to serve Him with the gifts He has given you. Nonetheless, we are standing and waiting, not knowing for how long. As we wait, we can become impatient or frustrated, thinking He is not there.

Be encouraged that not only is He there, but He is listening and patiently waiting for us. What is He waiting for? God is waiting for us to call on Him in prayer. Here is the proof in Jeremiah 29:11-12, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.”

The other thing God is waiting on is for us to reach out in a relationship with Him. Simply stated, He would love to spend time with us each day! He may be our creator, but He is also our Father. He isn’t any different than any other parent, right? I am not sure about you but I love to spend time with each of my kids, but I especially like it when they want to spend time with me! It makes our time together so much sweeter!

God is not off at work when we wake up in the morning or lying awake each night as He waits for us. He does not sleep and is there waiting for us anytime, day or night. All we have to do is speak to Him in prayer; we have access to it as a tool. It’s a great way to reach out to God in communication with Him. The truth is that Prayer is a key that unlocks doors that would otherwise be closed. We all have the key and are encouraged to use it often. Be encouraged to pick up the key, put it in the lock and open the door, God is waiting for you!
