Shine, Jesus, shine! What are you doing that draws someone else’s gaze or attention from the Lord? How loud are you shouting so that you can be noticed? And I am not discussing whether you are struggling with pain or grief.
Disclaimer- This message is as much for me as it is for you.
Glory Stealer
I am so sorry, but I have to ask the above question. It’s needed when we might verge on being glory stealers. It’s hard when watching fellow Believers in Christ try so hard that it’s challenging to see humility in them. I fully understand that a message cannot write itself and that we writers/authors/speakers need to promote that said message. But it’s sometimes hard to see Christ when we are in the way of sharing His message.
“I am the Lord; that is My name! I will not give My glory to anyone else, nor share My praise with carved idols. Isaiah 42:8 - Read Full Chapter @BibleGateway
You can’t outshine God!
Remember this—you can’t outshine God! In the Old Testament, God fought unwanted battles against His people because of their idol worship. Isaiah 48:11 reminded the people that He would not yield or share His glory with anyone, let alone the constant idols the people were propping up to place on pedestals.
For My own sake, for My own sake, I do this. How can I let Myself be defamed? I will not yield My glory to another. Isaiah 48:11 (NIV) - Read Full Chapter @BibleGateway
(Loud gulp here)- I know we do a lot because we want people to read our stuff. I get that. But it might sometimes be too much with all the gimmicks to catch the reader’s attention. It just seems so important to ask the Lord for help when sharing. We want to make sure that He is the one that is seen, not us.
Never Stop Dreaming
Never stop dreaming, knowing that God has given you gifts you are passionate about that glorify Him. He is good! God wants to see you thrive and move forward in your walk with Him every day of the week! But, He also needs the ultimate attention in our lives. As we recognize who it is, that gave us those God-glorifying spiritual gifts.
Christ in you, the Hope of Glory
Colossians 1:27 points us as Christ’s Followers in the right direction. It reminds us to whom we should be glorifying and why we do it. With His death on the cross, we are His chosen. We have the joy and privilege of sharing the life-saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. It makes us want to say, Shine, Jesus, Shine!
To them, God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27
Pray for Direction
When we pray and ask God for direction, He guides our thoughts. Then, we can seek Him further in prayer and ask Him how to bring glory to His name. As He directs us, we find joy in knowing we are doing what He wants us to do.
Shine, Jesus, Shine
It’s exciting to think that we are called to be Cheerleaders for Jesus with Shine, Jesus, Shine as one of our mottos. We can pray this prayer to be like Him and glorify Him in all we do. AND Make today epic by making sure God gets the glory!
