When it’s too difficult to pray. Recently, I read a post on Instagram that focused on miscarriages and IVF. The writer shared her painful journey from the many miscarriages she had. She talked about how difficult doing IVF is when the result is always the same. Because of her losses, she said that she no longer prayed. Her discouragement was obvious as she shared her heart, and I noticed there were about ten other women who chimed in with the same feeling.
My heart broke for these women. As I prayed, the Lord reminded me that He was interceding for them too. He prays for us and directs us to scripture in our time of need.
I remember clearly how I felt with my first miscarriage. I prayed so hard to stop what I knew I couldn’t. Although the second one wasn’t as hard emotionally, it was still a loss, just like the first.
Here’s what I know when it’s too difficult to pray: Scripture helps when you can’t pray. The Psalms are especially comforting. One of my favorites is Psalm 91. In addition, your friends and family want to walk with you in the difficulties you are facing. Please let them pray for you. More than anything, you can trust Jesus to intercede for you. Lastly, praising the Lord with worship music helps get your mind off of what you can’t change. It refocuses your thoughts on the goodness of God, knowing He is always faithful.
Friend, I feel compelled to put a loving arm around you and gently lead you to Jesus. Sometimes, you need the encouragement of someone who cares, especially when your thoughts betray you and the pain you face is too hard.
Lord, I am discouraged and need Your help. Please give me peace and comfort as I trust you to intercede for me. In Your name, Jesus.
